Untitled Houston
Gillian Jason Modern & Contemporary Art is delighted to announce its debut at Untitled Art Houston, marking the gallery's first presentation at the fair and its first time showing the work of Nina Mae Fowler in the city.
Fowler's practice draws on the language of classic Hollywood, mining vintage film stills and studio photography for source material. Working primarily in graphite and charcoal, she builds images with a painter's sense of light and shadow, drawing out the theatre of glamour and the quieter tensions beneath it: performance, desire, and the gaze that frames them both. The results are meticulous and unsettling in equal measure, images that feel both nostalgic and newly interrogated.
