signed and dated 'Tracey Emin 05' (lower right)

Emin has become synonymous with a wry and cheeky sense of humour that can be seen here in her own defaced self-portrait. Her exhibitions regularly sell out, with works like these rarely becoming available on the market.

This artwork was created especially for Dyslexia Charity Auction in 2005. Emin herself has dyslexia, and this photograph of the artist (taken from the cover of her book, Strangeland, 2005) are testament to that fact. Dyslexia can manifest in a number of ways, almost all of which involve seeing things differently; here Emin has layered a drawing of her cat, Docket, on top her photographic self-portrait to create an effect that reflects her own way of seeing.
