Biography
Saturated hues and gradients bring a dynamic, almost psychedelic quality to her pieces, encouraging the viewer to trace the subtle shifts in tone as they navigate the works’ undulating forms.

Manon Steyaert’s practice exists at the intersection of painting and sculpture, pushing the boundaries of both disciplines. Working primarily with silicone, the artist blurs the lines between two-dimensional and three-dimensional art. Steyaert’s process is deeply intuitive, driven by the inherent properties of her materials. Silicone, with its slow curing time, invites the artist into a meditative and time-intensive process where she pours, folds, and drapes the material, treating it almost like fabric. This delicate manipulation transforms the silicone into forms that are both sculptural and painterly, existing as objects that also echo the behaviour and movements of painting.

Manon Steyaert is a mixed media artist based in London. She received her graduate degree from Central St. Martins and an MAF in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Arts in 2019. Steyaert's practice is situated between the two worlds of painting and sculpture, creating both wall-based works and free-standing abstract sculptures. With a strong background in both fashion and art, she pays homage to traditional and non-traditional mediums throughout her practice. Focusing mainly on the aesthetic quality of silicone, Steyaert also utilises canvas, scrim, wood, and metal, drawing on the visual language of both architecture and painting. Recent exhibitions include Entre Art Fair with Annika Nuttall Gallery, Copenhagen (2024), ‘Can you see me’, a group show at DAA Art, London (2024), and ‘Looking for _____’, a group show at Cub_ism Artspace, Shanghai (2024).
