Time Present and Time Past’, just like the show itself, draws inspiration from T.S. Elliot’s poetry. In the absence of a main figure inhabiting the canvas, the book not only becomes the protagonist of the work but also behaves as a symbol about time. The empty pages contain infinite possibilities and dynamic narratives encompassed by the stillness of the surrounding landscape, loosely recalling the geography of northern Italian lakes. The mirror here is reproposed, creating an optical illusion resulting from the misalignment between the reflection and the main scene. The fish tank alludes to the repetition present the in human condition: just like goldfish we go around in circles, reliving our often-self-imposed routines.
