'Above the Warmth of the Ground' reflects on the security of being held by the earth, feet anchored by gravity to a surface that feels stable and known. The painting also questions what unfolds when that certainty loosens: when one allows the possibility of drift, buoyancy, and flight. Depictions of towering forms suggest a forest rising from unwavering terrain sitting amongst mirrored still water reflections that hold the landscape in delicate suspension. Stability gives way to the possibility of change and the familiar edges of the world begin to soften. At the centre of the composition, a distant clearing of light and mist, a space where potential gathers. This gestures toward the untraveled: the currents not yet followed, and the courage required to move beyond the horizon of certainty.
