Description:

Second state, with all lettering, Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow and other repositories.

First state, Philadelphia Museum of Art; Museum of Fine Art, Boston; Museum of Modern Art, New York and others.

The etching is evidently based on an earlier drawing made in Whistler's Studio which Sickert occupied from 1916 to 1920. By the time the etching was made the studio had passed to Duncan Grant.

David Strang printed 16 posthumous impressions (1945-47) for the Sickert Trust before cancelling the plate.
