Description:

Second state, British Museum and other repositories.

First state before reduction of the plate inscribed "The Barnacle Girl. Café Royal. To W.H. Davies. Walter Sickert". Barnacle refers to the Barnacle goose feathers in the girl's hat, and is possibly a humorous reference to her being a bit of a goose herself.

David Strang printed 16 posthumous impressions (1945-47) for the Sickert Trust before cancelling the plate.
