Description:

Second state, with all lettering, Hunterian Museum and Art Galleries, University of Glasgow and other repositories. First state: Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Red Lion Square was the address of Sickert's studio where he painted and drew several piano subjects in 1914-15. The plate probably originated at that time but was completed in 1922-23.

David Strang printed 16 posthumous impressions (1945-47) for the Sickert Trust before cancelling the plate.
