Books & Ephemera: An exhibition for lovers of the theatre and the art of fine printing

We present a collection of rare books, pamphlets and other ephemera related to the Theatre and the Private Presses. In one case the two coincide - Edward Gordon Craig, pioneer theatre designer of genius, was also a notable typographer, designing and publishing his own books and periodicals such as The Mask. There are items relating to the Guild of St. Joseph and St. Dominic, the experiment in communal living which Eric Gill founded in Ditchling in 1913, including the magazine The Game and other hand-printed ephemera. Admirers of wood-engraving and illustrations will find pamphlets relating to work by some of the leading exponents of the art, Eric Gill, Thomas Lowinsky, Blair Hughes Stanton, V. Le Campion, George Grosz and Barnett Freedman.
